Menopause Management
Changes during menopause
Menopause is often a difficult stage in a woman’s life. Hormone levels start falling causing a whole host of symptoms beyond hot flushes and night sweats. Menopause is also associated with changes to your mood, poor sleep and fatigue, muscle and joint pains, urinary and genital symptoms, itchy skin, brain fog and weight gain. Not every woman experiences every symptom, but many women have more than one. When you aren’t sleeping, your body is changing despite looking the same for years, you’re suddenly forgetful or just not as on the ball as you’re used to being, you just don’t feel like yourself.
It’s also a time of great change in life circumstances, with women facing more pressures in their midlife now, than in previous generations. Women in their 40s and 50s are simultaneously caring for their children and their ageing parents or other family members. For other women, children are growing up and leaving the home which naturally results in a change of roles and responsibilities. Many are still working full time and still trying to eat right and exercise well for their own health. All this is happening against the backdrop of the constellation of symptoms listed above.
